Jackie Robinson and the March on Washington

Jackie Robinson at the March on Washington, August 28, 1963Fifty years ago today, the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom took place on the National Mall in Washington, DC.  Jackie Robinson was among the 200,000 participants that day.

I’ve written previously on the link between Jackie Robinson and Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Civil Rights Movement.  While all of the participants in the March on Washington and other defenders of civil rights are important, today the baseball world also focuses on the legacy of Jackie Robinson.
