6 - Schoop

Jonathan Schoop at Spring Training, 2018

Opening Day is in just six days! Number 6 for the Orioles, Jonathan Schoop, is one of my favorite players; I’ve followed his career from his playing days with the Frederick Keys and Bowie Baysox to his promotion to the Baltimore Orioles. One of the things Baltimore loves most about Schoop, besides his ability to hit home runs, is his friendship with our other favorite, Manny Machado.

How has Schoop given back to the community? Schoop, a native of Curacao, returned home this winter and shared his knowledge and skills with Little Leaguers where he used to play when he was a kid. After all, he had a lot to share. Not only is Schoop a Major Leaguer and a 2017 All-Star, he also was a member of the 2004 Little League World Series-winning team from Willemstad, Curacao. Check out the video below of his clinic with the kids.
